3D blog questions

1. 2D uses horizontal and vertical dimensions, and the image is turned to the side. It turns into a line. It is flat.  3D adds the depth to a dimension. This third dimension allows for rotation and visualization from many different perspectives. 3D is the difference between a photo and a sculpture.

2. 3D technology was created by David Brewster in 1944.

3.There has been an expansion in 3D films because people find them more appealing, eye popping, realistic, and entertaining. It makes the experience seem real.

4. Very high grossing 3D films are Avatar which gained $760,507,625, Marvel's The Avengers which gained $623,357,910, Toy Story 3 which gained $415,004,880, and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 which gained $381,011,219. Regular films gross higher than 3D films.

5. What are some examples of special effects found in films?
Some special effects found in films are:
Morphing
-Motion control photography
-Optical effects
-Optical printing
-Prosthetic makeup effect
-Wire removal
-Computer-generated imagery

Technology Current Events

Summary: New technology is helping cadets in training see what it is like to fly a jet, drive a submarine, and do other things that they would actually have to do in real life to get a hang of. This new simulation program is giving them a very unique opportunity. The program is called Prepar3D. It creates a real-life experience. It was donated to the Cadet Youth Development Centre. " This is as about realistic as it gets... it's pretty much like flying the real thing, it had that feel to it," said Brandon Kecser. 14 who dreams of becoming an air force pilot. The program is a set of computers sitting side by side with a cover hanging over each computer like a cockpit. “It teaches the basics of flying, and we get a head start,” said Curtis Steinmann, 14, who also wants to become an air force pilot.
Opinion: I think that this program is great. It will help a lot of cadets and a lot of future cadets get a hang of flying these huge vehicles. If they did it in real life for the first time, a lot could go wrong. They could crash or suddenly get nervous and do something wrong. It also makes it seem like you are actually doing it and it feels like real life. These factors might help you determine if you actually wanna become part of the air force.
Significance: This article is significant to technology because this simulation program uses computers and software that is helping people know what it feels like to fly jets and such.

Technology changing

1.  Technology has changed marketing and advertising a lot. Twenty years ago, marketers did not have the same luxuries we have to show our products. Nowadays, we have so many ways to advertise our products. Television, computers, and so many more electronics give advertisers the opportunity to show their  product. We are also always surrounded by advertising. Everywhere we go, advertising is being thrown at us. So it affects us greatly. Some business companies now only use technology to control their entire business. They use computers to keep track of everything. Most businesses are built around technology. Companies like Apple, Microsoft, and Samsung are big businesses that use technology.

2. Technology is a big part of our life. Anywhere you go, you can see people using some sort of technology. You can do anything on the computer, thanks to the Internet. The business world has also changed, maybe even more than everyday lives. Technology has basically changed the way businesses work. Technology makes information easily accessible, and that's what helps businesses keep going.

Technology and cheating

1. Yes, because students can easily use their smart phones to look up answers or take pictures of a test to show others. Also, you can go online and order essays to hand in. Everything is online.

2. Students share answers online and they can also copy and paste other people's work on websites like Wikipedia and yahoo. They can also scan answers on a water bottle label. You can also use technology to look up answers thanks to the Internet.

Technology Current Events

Summary: Lots of singers and songwriters netted a record total of £51.7m from digital music services last year, as online licensing revenues eclipsed radio for the first time.
Digital music players are now the biggest source of income for artists in the UK, having overtaken radio last year after previously eclipsing live events and pubs. Streaming services, such as Apple iTunes and Spotify, has more than doubled UK online licensing revenues in 2008.
Physical sales like DVDs fall 18.7% year on year, to £10.9m. Newspaper and physical covers are going down. Also, ringtones which were very popular and a high source of income for artists have dropped.
The value of revenue from music ringtones for mobile phones has fallen to £900,000 from £5.7m five years ago.

Opinion: I think that digital music will become even more popular. Buying music online will also become popular. Doing things online makes everything easier, that's why I think that people are starting to buy their music online. The only negative thing that comes from this is that, there is a lot of people that illegally download music from the internet. People can easily steal music online nowadays. Back then, you had to go out and buy the music but now you can just do it in your own home. Also, artists will make much more music if they sold their stuff online because people aren't lazy to do stuff online and will buy their stuff versus people having to go out and buy their music or merchandise.

Significance: This article has something to do with technology because the article talks about buying music online and on the computer. It always talks about big technology companies like iTunes and Spotify. It also discusses music on mobile devices.

                                                         Microsoft fined

http://www.cbc.ca/news/technology/story/2013/03/06/technology-microsoft-ec-fine-european.html

Summary
Microsoft was fined $752M by European commission. They sued them for breaking the conditions of an agreement that they made earlier to offer users a choice of internet browser. Microsoft said that it was a mistake that they forgot to not automatically download Internet Explorer on their computers. They wanted to give users a choice to use their own internet browser.  The European Commission says "They must do what they committed to do, or face the consequences," Microsoft takes full responsibility for the mistake. For its part, Microsoft was apologetic.
"We take full responsibility for the technical error that caused this problem and have apologized for it," the company said in a statement. "We provided the Commission with a complete and candid assessment of the situation, and we have taken steps ... to help avoid this mistake — or anything similar — in the future."

Opinion
They "forgot"? The terms of settlement were huge news even back in 2009. How could you possibly "forget" something like that! That is what I think. They "forgot"? Microsoft has now paid a grand total of €2.2 billion in fines to the Commission since 1998 but this is the first time a company has admitted to breaking a promise made to the EU regulator. So at least they are being honest. Also, I think it is good that they are letting users choose their own internet browser because some people prefer something else besides Internet Explorer

Significance
This is significant to technology because it has to do with a very big technology company and what they are doing with their computers. In 2014, Microsoft computers will have an option to choose your own internet browser which is part of technology.

Digital Footprint

My data is collected numerous times in a day. It not a good thing because it tracks where I have been and the things I am doing. Privacy is a huge issue these days and now that technology is a big thing, it makes privacy a hard thing.

1. I think the term "digital footprint" means the trace that you leave on the internet. The information you put out there while using technology. Like something is tracking everything you do.

2. I definitely think students should be worried about their social network and their online life. We've been told so many times that what we put on the internet can't be taken back. A picture someone posted of you could end up in the hands of your employer and could be the cause of you not getting the job and maybe even being fired. We should be a lot more careful about what we post.
3.Make sure you don't post any personal information, full name, address, phone numbers, credit card numbers etc. Also avoid posting  pictures of your self or of you with recognizable places that can be traced back to where you live etc. Personal information is important so you should not share.
4.Research your privacy settings on each social network you use, make sure only the people you are comfortable with seeing your information can see it Also, only people that you know. Putting privacy on your social networking sites is very important. It keeps you safe.
5.I don't think so. People should be resposible for their own actions. It their choice to do what they want. They don't need to be babysat. Also, it might make them do more illegal stuff just because it is against the rules.

6. People should be aware but there is no need to pressure people. In the end, it is their decision and their choice. They should know that there and things that they should be caution about but overall it is up to them.

Ray Lam posted pictures on Facebook which were very inappropriate. Parties used this against him and then he finally resigned.
Lindsey Stone posted a picture of her in a cemetery, which was not very cordial. This caused her to get in trouble with Facebook and her boss (employers)

                                                             Current Events Apple Sued

1. I wouldn't feel very safe with my privacy. I wouldn't feel comfortable with someone knowing where I have been. My privacy would be violated. It will be very creepy.

2. I don't want them to use it for anthing but if they have to because of emergencies to save me or something, then i guess it is okay.

3. There is no benefits. Why would they want to know where I am? Unless I'm wanted from the police then of course there is a benefit but other than that there are no benefits. Only if there is an emergency.

4. Technolgy is the only thing that makes tracking possible. Things like iPads, iPhones, computers, and laptops all give your location away. If you have an electronic device, then for sure you are going to be giving away your location.

5. As technology advances, then I feel like we will have less and less privacy. Things like socials networks lets you hide some of your information, but its still dangerous.

 http://www.vancouversun.com/life/fashion-beauty/Technology+struts+catwalk/7981766/story.html

Summary: Technology is being used more and more at fashion shows. Things like iPads and iPhones were being used to capture Fashion Week in London and New York this week. Apple devices are now key tools for journalists, designers, and photographers. They use it to take pictures for the global audience. It allows the global audience to have a closer look into what is going on with Fashion Week. Photographers use apps like Instagram to capture what is going on and journalists use the iPad to sketch their impressions of favourite looks. Fashion photographer Uzo Oleh says that "The iPhone and iPad are changing the way people consume fashion."  An App called Paper is used for sketches and another app called Fashion GPS is used by 90% of fashion editors to get the right people into the right seats as fast as possible. For the first time this year, it is being used to take pictures. Also, retailers are now equipping their stores with tablets and other technolgies. Customers in stores that don’t have an item in stock can order it online. Overall, technology is expanding in the fashion world.

Opinion: I think that technology will only expand and become bigger. Apple will also become bigger in the fashion industry. It will be used more and it will remain the operating system that makes the most revenue for app developers. Journalists, photographers, and designers will start using more technology for their work and to share what is going on around them. Technology is growing rapidly around us and it is only a matter of time before everyone is using it on a daily basis.

Significance: This article is significant to technology because it discusses the use of devices like iPads and iPhones and how they are used in the fashion world. It also talks about how the technology will increase in the future and how people are using technology now.

Technology Reflection blog #3

Technology is a big part of our lives these days. Most of us own a smart phone or have at least one computer at home. I use technology a lot. I am constanly on my iPod Touch or on the computer. I also watch a lot of TV. I have so many shows that I have to watch. Texting and messaging my friends is also a daily routine for me. I started using computers at a young age. I think it was the fourth grade that I started using social networks sites like MSN but mostly I just played game. It was a few years later that I actually started to use the internet to do other things. People use technology to communicate with friends and family. Also, instead of going out and doing things, you can just use your computer or phone. You can do anything on the internet. I use an iPod Touch, computer, TV, phone, game console, iPad, and many many more things. Over the last five years there was been a staggering increase in the use of technology. All around the world, people are using an electronic device. The use of technology will increase even more in the future. Younger children wil start using it. Technology rbings people all around the world together. We can talk to a stranger on the other side of the world using technology. It allows us to do things that we never have been able to do before.

                                                New Blackberry Phone Z10
http://www.cbc.ca/news/business/story/2013/02/05/business-blackberry-canadian-launch.html
Summary: The new Blackberry Z10 was released in Canadian stores on February 5, 2013. There wasn’t a long line up at stores but there still was a high demand.  The companies Rogers and Bell both stated that there were 50% of pre-orders coming from non-Blackberry users. Blackberry hasn’t been doing well compared to other companies over the past few years but after the release of the new Blackberry Z10 the sales have been going up.  It is doing well in lots of other countries. Analysts say that the new Blackberry Z10 could do better than the iPhone. The iPhone sold 5M+ in the US in its first weekend and they say that the Blackberry will do even better.  The device works very well and it runs its latest operating system, Blackberry 10. It comes with a full, 4.2 inch touch screen.  Still, nobody knows how well it will actually do.
Opinion:  Blackberry has been at the top for many years but hasn’t been doing well lately.  I think that Blackberry will do well as long as they fix up their problems and make even better phones that everybody will enjoy like they used to. The sales are really good right now and I think they will stay like that. Hopefully, everything goes good for Blackberry and I want them to succeed because they are Canadian company.
Significance:  This article is significant to technology because it is talking about a phone’s sales. A Phone is a part of technology.  Also, it is talking about how it is competing with other phone companies. Many business people use the phone and hopefully with this new phone their sales will go up.

Exploring Youself

Hi I'm Kiran. I don't really know why I am doing this but I guess I have to because it's mandatory for my class. Anyways I'm a student right now, going to school, and hanging with my friends. I also play volleyball but the season is over so I don't really have anything to do anymore. I like to read sometimes and watch my favourite TV shows. Breaking Bad, The Walking Dead, and Mad Men. If you don't you know what these shows are then don't talk to me. My favourite books are the Harry Potter series, To Kill a Mockingbird, and The Great Gatsby, and many many more. I kinda like to do my own thing and just do what pleases me which is usually just sit around.

Places that make me happy: My room makes me happy because it means I can go to sleep which is my favourite thing to do. Book stores and the movie theatre bring me joy.

Places i would like to go: I would like to travel when I am older I wanna go to places like Ireland, Scottland, Austrailia, New Zealand, and Rome. I proably forgot a bunch of other places but these are the ones that i can name. Oh, and Greece. I just want to go to places where there is a lot of history. I wanna learn about everything.

Things in people which I like: I like it when people are real. It doesn't mater if what they say as long as it is true. I also like it when someone is trustworthy and loyal. It makes it easier to talk to them when you know that you can trust them.
